Guidelines

We provide offsite or after-hours in-store seminars to organizations, such as academic, health, or community groups. Discussions cover a broad range of topics, and we can tailor seminars to suit your group's particular needs. We address issues like sexual product primers (pleasures and pitfalls), sexual play health and safety, sexual abuse recovery, adapting to physical challenges, aging, peer counseling, feminist perspective, environmental and global trade impacts, consumer advocacy, S&M demystification, and coming-out. Seminars generally last about two hours.

We ask that groups consist of at least ten people. For non-profit organizations, we charge a fee of $5 per person. For-profit organizations, such as professional counselors using our seminar as part of their program, the fee is $10 per person. If offsite travel is involved, we also ask that our travel expenses be reimbursed in addition to the fee. To encourage groups to travel to us, we offer our seminars and the use of our premises for free (save the designated charity donation request) and we kick in a free Sex Toy Guide, complete with a $5 coupon, for every attendee!

If you're not part of a formal organization, don't despair! We've set aside Tuesday afternoons to host in-store our ever popular Sex Toy Primer (Plaudits and Pitfalls) seminar for informal groups of friends who have the wherewithal to arrange a field trip together. We still require at least ten people, plus pre-registration and a minimum $50 nonrefundable deposit ($5 per person or $50, whichever is greater) by credit card is necessary so that we can hold the space open.

All proceeds benefit the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.

Here are some actual quotes from recent seminar alums:

The feedback from our group was unanimous: the women loved it! They loved the energy, the information and the accessibility of it all.

"Thanks again for organizing the seminar. Cass did a great job! It was a delightful time and I think we will all have cyberskin nightmares in the future. Yuck!"

"Last year I attended a seminar on health issues concerning sex toys that was presented by Womyn'sWare at the University. The information presented at this seminar stayed with me long after I left that particular classroom, and I am continually surprised that what I learned is not exactly common knowledge."

"I feel that these issues are of particular relevance within feminist communities -- as sex toy consumption becomes increasingly accepted, it becomes increasingly necessary to understand the health risks involved in the purchase of a substandard product." --a seminar attendee

"The evening was informative and I can't wait to visit again!"

"It was a very positive experience."

"Extremely enlightening. Immensely enjoyable. Thank you for being here for us!!"

"Thanks so much for our positively comfortable enjoyable experience. I have lots of fun exploring to do."

"I appreciate and thank you for the difference you are making."

"Thank you for your commitment and your ability to create such a 'freeing' and beautiful space for 'womyn'".

"Thanks for a very fun, laughter filled evening."

"...A powerful experience for us. We all very much appreciated your respect for our group."

"Before I realized it, two hours had passed by."

"I was never embarassed."

"I wish someone, anyone, would have taken the time to instruct me like this 40  years ago."
